Some of the best comedy comes from simple, elegant ideas, and this brief was exactly that. A grown man realises it might finally be time to move out of home after watching a nature documentary with his mum. The perfect metaphor: a mother whale and her calf, closely bonded and never far apart.

Simple in concept, but not so simple in execution. We needed to find beautifully shot footage that communicated the idea clearly and instantly so the gag would land and the film would work.

We searched extensively across specialist nature libraries and independent wildlife filmmakers to source the most cinematic shots of a mother whale and her calf. Once the client had made their clip selection, we handled the licensing and clearance to ensure everything was ready for release.
